This exciting new excursion has been designed to give you the freedom to explore the historical riches of Malta's famous Grand Harbour at your own leisure. You will be collected from your hotel and taken to ‘Sliema Ferries'.
There will be 3 different departure times which you can choose from as follows;
- 1st departure from Sliema Ferries at 9:00am
- 2nd departure from Sliema Ferries at 9:30am
- 3rd departure from Sliema Ferries at 10:30am
When booking online, choose from the 3 possibilities: Water Taxi Tour 1, 2 or 3, depending at what time you wish to depart from Sliema Ferries, Tour 1 being the earliest and Tour 3 the latest.
You will be taken by Water Taxi into the Grand Harbour and dropped off in Valletta; Malta's World Heritage Capital City, just below the ‘Malta Experience' (which is included in your ticket). Whilst here you will have ample time to stroll down Republic Street, Main Square, The Palace Square, St.John's Co-Cathedral and many more of Valletta's historical and cultural buildings.
Upon leaving Valletta you will be taken to the city of Birgu; the city founded by the Romans in 200BC until the 4th Century, later developed by the Knights of St. John in 1530AD. Birgu played the most important role during the Great Siege of 1565AD. It was the city where the Knights won the Great Siege against the Turks - the victorious city, hence it's other name: Vittoriosa. It is a city packed with historical wealth! You will also be able to visit one of the oldest churches in Malta, the Maritime Museum (optional) and the new Waterfront with its various restaurants, offering cuisine to suite all tastes. This is the best place to enjoy a leisurly lunch in beautiful surroundings. From Birgu you will be taken to Rinella, where you will have time to visit Fort Rinella, which houses the 100 ton Armstrong Gun and the Victorian fortifications (optional). Once you have finished your tour you will then have your final pick-up and transported back to ‘Sliema Ferries' where you will find the transport to transfer you back to your hotel.
